WORK PARTIES ARE A YEAR ROUND ACTIVITY; THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE DONE
LET'S SEE WHAT WE ARE MADE OF.
LET'S DO IT
Work Party fines WILL be instituted at years end to any member, under 65, that does not complete the mandated 3 five hour work parties; one five hour work party must be completed for each of the following; the VP committee, the House committee and the Captain's committee
We have started a White Cross Fishing Club Group. The FaceBook "Group" will differ from the White Cross Fishing Club FaceBook "page" in that we can pick and choose who can see our posts. Members of the group will have the ability to post their thoughts, pictures etc. that will ONLY be seen by invited or accepted members. Membership in the group will be limited to WCFC members and their families.
We will be a "Closed" Group, meaning anyone can find the group and see who's in it and ask to be included but only members can see posts.
If interested; search FaceBook for White Cross Fishing Club; ask to join, an administrator will accept your request.
"PLANKS FOR THE MEMORIES"
To help finance the re-decking of our pier, we are considering asking members, former members, friends of WCFC & InterClub members to purchase a plank to help finance the re-decking of our pier, we are considering asking members, former members, friends of WCFC & InterClub members to purchase a plank for $100.00
On this plank we will affix a plaque with an inscription of your choice. Before moving forward with this idea, we need a consensus of opinion. Please take a minute and vote on the poll;

We are in negotiations with the supplier to get the best deal possible and we are still working out some small details; i.e. where the brick display will be placed, how to display them etc… More information will be forwarded shortly.

Upon the inspection by the department of health, we were given a list of 21 items that needed to be corrected. Within 72 hours - 20 of the 21 corrections had been made and accepted by the department of health.
There has been only one issue holding us back - a NYC DEP Sewer discharge permit. According to the department of health, this permit is required in order to dump water from the pool into the sewer system. This was the first time in three years that we had ever heard of this requirement.
After discussions with other beach clubs we determined that none of the other beach clubs have this permit, nor were they ever required to obtain it.
Upon reaching out to our engineer, we were told this would be a lengthy and involved process, costing over $2000, and an additional renewal fee of approximately $400 every year.
Unfortunately our engineer is not permitted to work on this project for us, due to a conflict of interest. We have reached out to several politicians for help, but not much has been accomplished yet.
We are still of the belief that this permit is not required. Fortunately Justin Dambinskas, the owner of Hammond’s Cove Marina and the Icehouse, has set up a meeting for us this Tuesday, with a representative from the Small Business Administration - who we hope will be able to contact the correct people and get a solid answer for us as to acquiring a waiver or a letter from NYC DEP explaining that this permit is not required.
I would just like to reiterate, that we were never told this permit was required in the three years of paperwork and regulations that we were told we had to address and/or apply for.
I also, would like to say - so many of our members and their families have been willing to help, and have reached out to many people on behalf of the Club, to try to resolve our issue. I can’t thank them all enough for what they’ve done. Countless, countless hours have been spent by our White Cross family and friends to try and get our pool open, whether it has been by performing repairs or contacting numerous department agencies.
We have not stopped working on this! I will update you again as soon as we get more information.
